Cardiff City’s perfect start to the Adran Premier season continued as they claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Aberystwyth Town.

Rhianne Oakley scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute at Cardiff International Sport Campus as the Bluebirds continued their excellent defensive record – they are yet to concede a goal in five matches this term.

Cardiff Met are hot on the tails of their neighbours though. They triumphed 3-1 against Barry Town United to make it four wins in a row since their opening day defeat to Swansea City.

Erin Murray scored twice inside the first 22 minutes before Mackenzie Olden reduced the deficit for the visitors – making the teenager the top scorer in the league with five goals to her name this season.

But it was not enough to spur Barry on to an equaliser, as Cardiff Met wrapped up victory shortly after half-time through Evie Griffiths.

Elsewhere, reigning champions Swansea raced into a two-goal lead against The New Saints at Park Hall when Nia Rees and Emma Beynon found the net inside the opening 12 minutes.

TNS captain Beth Lewis got her side back into the game with a penalty after Shaunna Jenkins fouled Lexie Harrison in the box, but a stunning 30-yard strike from Katy Hosford sealed a 3-1 win for the visitors with just three minutes remaining.

Finally, there was more misery for Abergavenny as the newly-promoted team remain without a point following a 3-0 defeat away to Pontypridd United.

Jas Turner scored two first half goals and Olivia Francis added another after the break to secure a second win of the campaign for James Fishlock’s side.
